March 7, 2022Why are we accepted by God?
Ephesians 1:3-6 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.
In verse 3 it says; we are blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. Think about that. Some of us spend our whole Christian life praying and praying for more blessing. But verse 3 says we have been blessed (past tense) with every spiritual blessing. Can we embrace that? Are we praying and praying for something we already have?
In verse 4 it says He chose us in Him (Jesus) before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.
You are chosen, you are holy and without blame before him.
You might ask how can I be holy and without blame when I still sin or have struggles that aren’t godly. The answer is very simple. Our life has become Christ’s life. Colossians 3:3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Your life is hidden in him. You're in union with Jesus.
John 17:20-23 says; 20 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
What do we see here? In verse 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us.
Do you see the union? Why are you acceptable to God? Because you are in union with him. If Jesus is acceptable then you are too.
This was Jesus’s prayer to the Father. When we receive Christ as our savior, we receive the very life of Christ. Our life is now hidden in him. His righteousness, his holiness, his very life. He makes us acceptable.
Embrace your acceptance in Christ!
